Block Party on 28th Street with the City of Las Vegas

Guests were invited to meet Justin and his tia, Brown Magic, to celebrate his then upcoming sculpture at Sunrise Avenue and 26th Street! The party included a lowrider cruise, music, a taco stand, dancers, piñata time, and fun for the kids and kids-at-heart! People were encouraged to bring their friends and family for a day filled with culture, celebration and creativity! It was free and open to the public. This event was possible thanks to the support from the City of Las Vegas. Shout out to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs!

Family Fiesta is a celebration with Justin Favela and his family! In this ongoing series of performances, the public is encouraged to participate in the celebration firsthand by enjoying food, drinks, music, games and piñata time. The events are taken out of the traditional context of park outings or backyard cookouts and performed in unconventional locations challenging people's expectations of a fiesta, and at the same time, dismantling notions of place and institutional inclusion.
