Inspired by the Las Vegas bearpoppy, Las Tres Flores represents the three generations of Favela’s family that have lived in East Las Vegas, the single bud beginning to emerge symbolizes the future generations to come. The symbolism of the yellow poppies; friendship, goodwill, and positive memories, points toward the families and community members that have come before us and built our shared neighborhood in its present state.

The Las Vegas bearpoppy grows around the Sunrise Mountain area of East Las Vegas. The boulders that surround the flowers stand in for the mineral rich mountains that watch over the valley and more importantly the Eastside: Frenchman and Sunrise. The Las Vegas bearpoppy is currently on the endangered list and this sculpture stands in as a monument in order to honor this sacred flower.

Las Tres Flores was made possible with the support of Vik Sehdev (Principal Engineer), Adin Fly (fabricator), and City of Las Vegas Recreation and Cultural Affairs for commissioning the project.
