Live in America, Springdale introduced Family Fiesta, a community event created by artists Justin Favela and Bertha Gutierrez. Favela and Gutierrez invited people to join their celebration of Latine culture by engaging with free food, drink, music, and piñata activities as a part of the free event. The fiesta included piñata-making demonstrations, games, entertainment, face painting and more! Family Fiesta was originally supposed to be held at The Jones Center Playground, but because of the rain, it was held inside. Hope you were able to join us for piñata making, family-friendly activities, and good fun.

Family Fiesta is a celebration with Justin Favela and his family! In this ongoing series of performances, the public is encouraged to participate in the celebration firsthand by enjoying food, drinks, music, games and piñata time. The events are taken out of the traditional context of park outings or backyard cookouts and performed in unconventional locations challenging people's expectations of a fiesta, and at the same time, dismantling notions of place and institutional inclusion.
